By: Jodi Picoult
I love Jodi Picoult she is one of my top 3 authors. If I see a book she as written I don't even bother to read the back I just read it! This one was very hard for me to read. I always expect to be puzzled or amazed at how she can throw my thoughts around on a subject, but this was different. With in two chapters a school shooting happens. There is a lot of violence, heart break, and anger right off the bat. I will not spoil the story for you but they try to pin the blame on bullying. Yes bullying can play a role in things like that. Personally I was bullying all my life relentlessly physically as well as emotionally and mentally, but I never even thought of harming them especially shooting. So I didn't have any sympathy for the shooter. Picoult throws you a curve ball that I did not like at all. I did not like this book overall. Which is sad since up til this one I love every book I read of hers. Needless to say This book did not find a place on my bookshelf.
Welcome

The Help
Author: Kathryn Stockett
Genre: fiction
This book got very popular. I heard about it on a TV commercial! Of all places to hear about a book I thought it was crazy, but I decided to read the book. I am so glad I did. It turned out to be on my top 5 list after I finished it. I love how strong the main characters are. I am always interested in strong female characters. I also LOVE how Ms. Stockett chose a time and point of view in history that is often ignored. The story pulls you in from the very first page. I really hope to see more from Ms. Stockett. The Help found a permanent home on my bookshelf I know this will be a book I read over and over.

The Time Travelers Wife
Author: Audrey Niffenegger
Genre: Romance meets Science Fiction
This book is now considered a modern classic. Honestly, I don't know why. Yes the story was good, but in my opinion, not a classic. I had seen the movie so I kind of knew what to expect. What I did not expect was sex. There is a lot of sex in this book. It didn't matter the situation sex was worked in. It got very annoying and I definitely wouldn't let a tween girl read it. I did like that the story was unique. Most books these days are very cookie cutter. This one broke the mold for sure. I also liked the way the chapters were structured. You never get bored and get into both Henry and Clare's heads. The end was also vague and not "disney". So major points for that. I say that this book is definitely worth the read I just wouldn't read it again and again so it didn't find a home on my shelf. Thank you for reading.
